Porter Ranch Creekside Studio Gallery Tour

CREEKSIDE TOUR: You can tour my creekside studio with the Valley Artists Studio Tour on Oct. 1 and 2, 2011 between 10:00am and 5 pm.   For information on how to tour the other 24 artist's studios, go to http://www.sfvartscouncil.com.or/ call me at 818 368 6043.  Here are some of my never before shown palette knife oil paintings. Also scroll through past postings here  for more adventures in places I have painted all over California and in my world travels.

"Young Mountain Lion" 16 x 20 original oil
You probably won't see this young mountain lion from my balcony, but down below at the creek there is wildlife.  I was biking along Sycamore Trail when this one courageously stared at me.  Was the mama near?  I turned around until two more bikers came along before proceeding.  I like to paint this trail, and its rare visitor made it even more exciting.   About 10 of these mountains lions live in the Santa Monicas.

"Creek at Porter Ranch" 14 x 11 original oil
I recall swimming in the creek at my grandfather's farm.  What fun these two are having right here in Limekiln Canyon in this Los Angeles suburb. I had wanted to paint the naked infant whom I found splashing there also. By the time I set up my easel, the infant had its clothes on...and besides..nudity?

"Natural Bridge" 11 x 14 original oil
If you ride your bike up Highway 1 on the Pacific Coast out of Mugu State Park and climb behind the cliffside rocks, you will find this bridge.  But you need to get there soon.  The pounding waves may wash it down one of these days.  SOLD

"Awesome Aspen" 20 x 20 original mixed media  SOLD
These aspen are the real gold of the Sierras. The tissue and oil from my palette knife create ripples of light.

"Courageous Cascade"  20 x 20 original mixed media SOLD
The abstract interpretation of a cascade on my creek with wrinkled tissue and palette knife oils, is from my special rockside spot where water rushes by to sing its own song.

"Leo Carrillo" 8 x 10 original oil, $325.00
Painting at this favorite artist's spot with the California Art Club, I was reminded that a special place can never be seen the same way twice.  As with people, each of us is a non-duplicate.

"Hungry Packer Lake" 11 x 14 original oil,
                                                    $395.00
This one took hiking in the high Sierras to 11,000 feet. Fortunately I had mules to carry my paintbox.

"Bloody Mountain Sunset" 11 x 14 original oil,
                  $395.00
In Mammoth Lakes I rode my bike up to this view point. Sunset makes Bloody Mountain deserving of its name. And the rich color from the aspen are glowing with my palette knife.
